Jyoti membuktikan bahwa kekurangan fisiknya bukanlah penghalang untuk berkarier di ring politik. Wanita 18 tahun ini telah memulai kampanyenya untuk partai politik Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), dalam pemilu lokal di Mumbai.

Mengidap sindroma achondroplasia dwarfisme, pertumbuhan tubuhnya terhenti setelah ulang tahun pertamanya. Kelainan tersebut membuatnya menderita tulang rapuh dan cenderung membutuhkan perawatan intensif selama sisa hidupnya. Bobot tubuhnya pun hanya 4,9 kilogram.
Jyoti dinobatkan sebagai wanita terkecil di dunia tepat di hari ulang tahunnya ke-18, akhir tahun lalu. "Selama bertahun-tahun, saya punya ambisi dan impian untuk diakui sebagai wanita terkecil di dunia," katanya.
